With one foot in the dictionary and the other outside in the weather, I have been honing my craft as a writing coach, group facilitator, and educator since the late 1900’s. I have worked a range of jobs so far (outdoor leader, high school English teacher, bookseller, yoga instructor, marketer), though my favorite role to play is Creative Writing Teacher.

I work for and alongside individuals, groups, and teams to build skills in writing, speaking, and listening as we explore the human experience.

Innovation, joy, and grounding in the animate earth inform my classes and coaching. As a native Louisianian settled in western Massachusetts, my perspective on regional and cultural values shapes my approach to projects and helps me envision both live and evergreen programs to guide y’all through the meaningful changes you seek.

I answer the call to dismantle bias and white supremacy by bringing all our awarenesses to intersectional struggle. But, like you, I am uncomfortable with the Us V Them dynamic-- that will not relieve anyone's hunger nor soothe anyone's hurts. It is a process of illumination that'll get us all free.

Do you need to scream about why humans are so infuriating, and realize that you are too, sometimes?

In this workshop we will explore The Grief House’s five philosophies through engaging our own story and the memories we carry from each of those stories. Over the course of five weeks, we will use creative and personal writing, as well as mindfulness exercises, to build our capacities to metabolize grief. Despite how it is often depicted and discussed, writing is a social activity with a solitary component– and that is the balance we strive to strike in this workshop series. .....................................................You Belong in this workshop If:

Someone you love died • Someone you love left • Someone you love didn’t show up • Love showed up, but it’s not what you hoped it would be • Love showed up and it was what you hoped it would be, but then it changed • You lost your job • Your best friend moved • Your dog is old • Love showed up as a dog, then love showed up as a human who is allergic to your dog • Love showed up as running (or dancing or skiing or hiking or sleeping in a tent or doing needlepoint or carrying babies), but your body isn’t up for it • Your body doesn’t understand the world it lives in • The world misunderstands your body •Your body hates a thing you love • Your body loves a thing you hate • Your mother hates a thing you love • You love too many things and think you have to choose •

We will spend our time free-writing with suggested topics and structured prompts as we build up a bank of raw material to reflect on the life we live, and what is most important to us. Some of us will use this to craft poems, stories, and other personal writing, others of us may prefer to write with no future agenda of output.
